Scope and Content Note: Additions, 1954-2000, documenting Professor Taylor's work as a member of the Board of the National Endowment for the Arts, research for the book co-authored with Anthony L. Barresi, The Arts at a New Frontier: the National Endowment for the Arts (1983), and research into the later history of the Endowment. The papers consist of information about the early history of the Endowment, clippings files on the controversy aroused in the 1990s by allegations that the Endowment was funding obscene and sacrilegious art, and correspondence with various members of the Board, past and present.
