Subseries: Subseries 1: General Correspondence, 1936-1967
: General correspondence is arranged chronologically by year, and within each year arranged by month. Letters without month dates appear at the end of each year; undated letters appear at the end of the subseries. Initial letters and subsequent correspondence relating to a particular subject are stapled together and filed under the date of the first letter. This subseries contains carbon copies of letters written by Schneider as well as letters from other correspondents. Appendix I contains an index of the major correspondents for each year. Whenever possible, correspondence which directly concerns plays and other projects is included under the appropriate categories elsewhere in the collection.
