Dane County Labor Oral History Project Interviews, 1984

Biography/History

The Dane County Labor Oral History Project (“Building a City, Building a Movement”) was sponsored by the Dane County Labor Council and funded in part by the Wisconsin Humanities Committee. Its end product was a slide-tape program, available on videotape through the office of the Labor Council (1602 S. Park St., Madison). As part of the research going into this project, Dexter Arnold, who was in the process of completing his Ph.D. dissertation, conducted four interviews with Madison labor activists. Portions of two of the interviews--William Conners and Evelyn Gotzion--were used in the slide-tape program's sound track. Jim Cavanaugh of the State Historical Society of Wisconsin's staff served as director of the Project.
