Old World Wisconsin film
1992/183
Part 4 (1992/183, Audio 1712A, AE 378, VHB 519-VHB 521): Additions, circa 1950s-1992
Physical Description: 5.2 cubic feet cubic feet of photographs, negatives, and transparencies (2 records center cartons, 8 archives boxes, 1 card box, 1 oversize folder, and 1 flat box), 25 tape recordings, 3 video recordings, and 1 film
Scope and Content Note: Promotional materials, circa 1950s-1992, for the State Historical Society's historic sites, headquarters building and collections and records relating to the Society's archaeology and historic markers program and collections. Records include project files, photographs, negatives and negative film strips; slides, transparencies and audio recordings. Of particular interest are photographs documenting exhibits in the Society's Historymobile, the Society's involvement with the restoration of the State Capitol building, observances for the tercentenary of the Jacques Marquette and Louis Jolliet expedition, and audio recordings of author Stephen Ambrose's Founders Day address, "Eisenhower and the D-Day Decision," in 1981. The project files appear to have been work files of George Talbot, former curator of the Society's audio and visual collections, and include notes and related documentation for slide talks on historic sites, grants materials, and correspondence related to the iconographic collection.
