Scope and Content Note: These additions are principally related to Chilsen"s 1969 Congressional campaign to fill Melvin Laird"s unexpired seat after Laird was appointed Nixon"s Secretary of Defense. Materials include correspondence, a brief biography, speeches and statements, election financial statements, news clippings, advertising schedules, and news releases. Also included are 4 photographs depicting Chilsen on the campaign trail interacting with a farmer, children, and Governor Warren P. Knowles. Other photographs are of Chilsen, alone and with his family, taken for advertising purposes.
