Scope and Content Note

Stevens Point Mss R includes reproductions of photographs collected and captioned by Malcolm Rosholt, Rosholt, Wisconsin; including 159 photographs of logging operations taken circa 1890-circa 1912 in Marathon, Portage, and other nearby Wisconsin counties; 15 aerial views of towns and other scenes taken in 1965 in Waupaca and Portage counties; and 3 portrait photographs of mayors of Stevens Point, Wisconsin, including Leon Pasternachi, Byron B. Parks, and Thomas Henry Hanna.

PH 3544 includes photographs of Wausau and of lumber operations in Marathon County, 1909-1912. The images of Wausau include baseball teams, a milkman, railroad crews, the Marathon County Court House, and the Wausau Paper Mill in Brokaw. The lumbering images show crews, equipment, sawmills, blacksmiths, and the Wausau Foundry and Machine Works.

PH 3567 includes images which duplicate some of the photographs at Stevens Point. They document logging and sawmill operations in north central Wisconsin including the counties of Forest, Langlade, Oneida, Sawyer, Shawano, Marathon, Portage, and Waupaca, circa 1880-1925. Included are images of lumber camps, log transportation, sawmills, loggers, log camp cooks, and Native Americans.
