Clara Bauer Papers, 1971-1988

Scope and Content Note

The Clara Bauer Papers illustrate how one woman's struggle to save a family farm became a ten-year career as an anti-nuclear power activist and grass roots organizer. The collection is arranged as it was by the donor: 48 scrapbooks (1970-1982) compiled by Bauer which include correspondence, handwritten notes, meeting minutes, pamphlets, newsletters, press releases, and newspaper clippings. The original order has been maintained; the volumes were numbered 1-32, 35-44, and 47-53. The missing volumes contained information unrelated to the Tyrone case and were retained by the donor. The scrapbook contents now are stored in folders as listed below.

Materials from several years may be found together in the same folder. To facilitate access to the materials, the inventory contains a summary of the contents of each folder. The date that begins each summary represents a bulk date, and is not necessarily the earliest date for the folder materials.
