Scope and Content Note: Included are the Athletic Commission, which was created in 1913 and which became the Athletic Examining Board in 1967 before being eliminated in 1979; the Barbers Examining Board, which was created in 1915, transferred to Regulation and Licensing in 1975 and which became the Barbering and Cosmetology Examining Board in 1987; the Bingo Control Board, which was created in 1973 and absorbed by the Gaming Commission in 1992; the Cosmetology Examining Board, which was created in 1939, transferred to Regulation and Licensing in 1975, and which became the Barbering and Cosmetology Examining Board in 1987; the Funeral Director's Examining Board which was created in 1905 and transferred to Regulation and Licensing in 1975; the Real Estate Appraisers Board, which was created in 1989, and the Watchmaking Examining Board, which was created in 1937 and abolished in 1979. The Athletic Commission records also include a transcript of a 1925 hearing. Also included are minutes of the Private Detective Advisory Committee, which was appointed by the Secretary of the Department for advice on matters relating to regulation of private detectives.
