Part 2 (2002/111): Additions, 1985, undated
Physical Description: 295 transparencies and 3 tape recordings
Scope and Content Note: Three slide-tape shows, 1985, undated, produced or distributed by the Division of State Energy as part of a program to educate the public on the conservation of energy: “Bright Ideas in Lighting,” “Dear Professor Powers: Appliance Buying for the Energy-conscious Consumer,” and “Energy Management in Local Government.” The last two are accompanied by script transcriptions. Also included is one script transcription, “Reducing Energy Costs in Religious Buildings,” for which the slide show is not included. “Dear Professor Powers” was produced by Madison Gas and Electric Company. An additional seven slides document a tour by division staff of the Wisconsin Electric Power Company plant at Oak Creek.
2005/141
Part 3 (2005/141): Additions, 1978-1996
Physical Description: 2.0 cubic feet (2 record center cartons)
Scope and Content Note: Grant files concerning four energy programs managed by the division, 1978-1996. Typical projects included solar-powered and highly-insulated residential construction, ethanol and landfill gas, wind power feasibility studies, and efficient use of wood industry products and by-products. The files include some funded and unfunded applications, although it is not known if the accession contains all applications received. The Energy Development and Demonstration Program began in 1980 in order to encourage the development of alternative energy sources and energy conservation. These files, which are arranged alphabetically by keyword may contain correspondence, reports, publicity, and photographs. The Renewable Energy Assistance Program (REAP) which funded both technical and construction assistance projects, is quite similar both in purpose and in documentation except that some funding came from the Oil Overcharge Fund. The Wood Waste Energy Incentive Program, which primarily dates from 1989, provided funds mainly to Wisconsin lumber companies, pallet manufacturers, and manufacturers of other wood products for efficiency use of its by-products. Some project reports contain photographs or slides. While most are of a technical nature, those documenting the Macrothermal house in Glendale are of general interest.

Part 5 (2008/066): Additions, 1999-2004
Physical Description: 1.0 cubic foot (1 record center carton)
Scope and Content Note: Files, 1999-2004, of Alex DePillis, renewable energy engineer, consisting largely of files on projects funded by the state through the Renewal Energy Assistance Program (REAP). The projects that he monitored examined the feasibility of biomass, solar, and wind power, and the files generally consist of correspondence, e-mail, applications, reports, and financial information. Especially notable is a state wind power application to the U.S. Department of Energy and reports on wind power potential at numerous sites in Wisconsin. Several other folders concern review of Department of Natural Resources plans to construct a solar-powered headquarters as part of the Wisconsin Focus on Energy Program.

Part 6 (2010/065): Additions, 2000-2004
Physical Description: 1.2 cubic feet (3 archives boxes) and 1 videorecording
Scope and Content Note: Grant files, background information, and photographs of energy conservation projects throughout Wisconsin, 2000-2004. Background and information on specific Wisconsin Renewable Energy Network (WREN) incentive grants focus on wind power and biomass combustion. There is also some information on Focus on Energy. Photographs of grant projects related to biomass, water management, wind farms, and a wood firing boiler are also included. Of note are construction photos of the Monona Terrace Convention Center.
