Wisconsin. Division of Corrections: Psychiatric Field Service Case Files, 1925-1943

Arrangement of the Materials

This series came to the State Archives on microfilm in two segments. The first set of reels is arranged alphabetically by last name of inmate, and is numbered 1 through 93. The second set of reels is arranged by institution, and thereunder alphabetically by last name of inmate, and is numbered 1A through 66A. Both sets cover the same years and contain similar documents. However, the 66 reel segment generally contains only the psychiatric and physical examination reports, while the 93 reel segment contains correspondence, court orders and other documents in addition to the examination reports. As the exact purpose and origin of the two sets of film is not known, the researcher should consult both for records of a particular individual.
