Abstract:
Records of the Engineering Research and Advisory Committee (ERAC) document the coordination of the engineering research program in the Department of Transportation. Includes minutes, meeting materials, and correspondence with the Federal Highway Administration (FHwA) and the American Association of State Highway and Transportation (AASHTO). These concern the committee's work in developing solutions to transportation system operational and performance problems; evaluating new methods and materials of construction and operations; evaluating new methods and materials; and developing specifications and design standards for materials and methods. In 1989, the Engineering Research and Advisory Committee was reconstituted as the Council on Applied Research (CAR).
