Access Restrictions

Sections 19.36 and 101.12, Wis. Stats., restrict access to some of these records. This includes files for jails, police stations, most courthouses, armories, and the buildings which provide utilities such as electricity, gas, or telephone service. To gain access to secured building plans correspondence, researchers must obtain permission in writing from the current building owner. In addition, files for all state owned or leased buildings are restricted; permission must be obtained from the Department of Administration.

Series 2284 boxes are stored at the State Records Center (SRC). Requests for boxes stored at the Records Center must include the 6 digit SRC number found in the appendix to the register.
