Wisconsin. Department of Justice. Division of Legal Services: Closed Case Files, 1885-1963

Related Material

Beginning in 1991, only precedent-setting, historically significant cases as identified by the supervising attorneys and/or division administrator, and reviewed by a panel of Department of Justice and State Historical Society personnel, are retained. These cases may include, but are not limited to, suits involving civil rights, Indian treaty rights, environmental issues, labor relations, misconduct by public officials, and defense of state programs that have constitutional dimensions. These files are cataloged separately as “Closed Case Files (Historically Significant)”

“Collection Case and Investigation Files” (Series 1861) also contains related records.
