Edwin H. Van Ostrand, son of Dewitt Clinton Van Ostrand, was born in Eldorado, Wisconsin, on November 21, 1862. He was in the lumber and logging business and dealt primarily with handling of timber lands. Until 1894 he lived in Milwaukee, then moved to Portage, later to Neenah, and finally to Antigo. In 1890 he married Mattie Amoretti Culver in Portage. They had two children; Dexter Culver Van Ostrand and Aaron Mortimer Van Ostrand. Edwin H. Van Ostrand died in Idaho in 1928, and was buried at Neenah.
