Ohio Ecological Food and Farm Association Records, 1976-2004

Biography/History

The Ohio Ecological Food and Farm Association (OEFFA) was established in 1979 to provide a network for farmers practicing ecological methods of growing. Rural Resources, a rural development and advocacy organization founded in 1975 in Loveland, Ohio, by Jody and Terry Grundy, among others, organized a state natural farming conference where the idea for OEFFA began and Rural Resources helped OEFFA get started with administrative and other significant assistance. Meanwhile, Rural Resources continued its work of community organizing, holding conferences and other educational events, helping to establish farmers' markets, and collaborating with other rural, land, and farming organizations. After 1981, when the staff of Rural Resources dissolved, many people who were active with the organization continued working on these issues and some worked with OEFFA. See the Rural Resources records for further information on the earlier organization. For current information on OEFFA's activities, see its website.
