Papers, 1972-2019 (bulk 1984-2016), of Michael Sligh, an organic farmer, program director at the Rural Advancement Foundation International (RAFI-USA), policy analyst, author, and spokesperson for organic and sustainable agriculture. During the course of a 40 plus-year career, Sligh served as founding chair of the National Organic Standards Board (NOSB), was a co-founder of the Southern Sustainable Agriculture Working Group (SSAWG), a founding member of the National Campaign for Sustainable Agriculture (NCSA), the National Family Farm Coalition (NFFC), the National Organic Coalition (NOC), the Domestic Fair-Trade Association (DFTA), and the U.S. Organic Farmers Association. Other activities documented include work on organic standards integrity, public plant and animal breeding, biotechnology in agriculture, agricultural research and legislation, and the development of international guidelines for organic production and processing.
