Part 1 (Mss 1071, PH 6633, Audio 1503A, VHA 977, VHB 283): Original Collection, 1979-20045.6 c.f. (5 record center cartons, 2 archives boxes, and 1 oversize folder), 312 photographs and 155 transparencies in 2 archives boxes, 197 negatives on 54 strips (1 negative box), 9 tape recordings, and 2 videorecordings The NUKEWATCH records are an alphabetical subject file including correspondence; clippings; flyers and press material; logs; notes; court records of John LaForge, Tom Hastings and Donna Howard Hastings, and Donna Urfer and Michael Sprong; and photographs and films. The correspondence of Sam Day Jr., John LaForge, and other Nukewatch leaders consists of exchanges with individual activists such as Nathaniel Batchelder of Oklahoma Nuke-Watch and national organizations such as Benedictine Peace House, Ground Zero, and Mobilization for Survivial. Some records of the Progressive Foundation; Stop Project ELF, a Wisconsin organization headed by John Stauber; Nuclear Free Madison; and the Nuclear Weapons Facility Project are also included. The VISUAL MATERIALS are divided by format. The photographs and transparencies document the Truck Watch project and actions at the Project ELF site in Clam Lake. The videorecordings include People at the Fence, a documentary made in 1986 by Nukewatch about ICBM installations, the arms race, nuclear weapons, and nuclear weapons protests which includes testimony by Sam Day and Proposition 18: A Resolution of Hope, excerpts of testimony and comments before the Wisconsin Legislators' Health and Services Committee about Assembly Resolution 18 calling for a mutual moratorium on nuclear weapons. Prints or laser prints for all negatives are available. The AUDIO RECORDINGS include lectures and audio for filmstrips.
