Abstract:
General correspondence, personal correspondence, production records, and financial records documenting all aspects of the textile industry in Wisconsin. Included is information on women in the workforce, product marketing and development, and the impact of a major employer on the community. The collection also contains information on predecessor firms and subsidiary firms such as Appleton Superior Knitting Works, F.J. Harwood, Hutchinson & Co., Lake Superior Knitting Works, Reedsburg Mills, and Turner & Hutchinson; on Riverview Sanatorium, the United Boys' Brigade, and the State Historical Society Board of Curators; on the Congregational Church and mission work; and on the Lakeshore Camping Company, an early tourist agency. Also included are papers of F. Harwood Orbison.
