records documenting all aspects of the textile industry in Wisconsin. Included is
information on women in the workforce, product marketing and development, and the impact of
a major employer on the community. The collection also contains information on predecessor
firms and subsidiary firms such as Appleton Superior Knitting Works, F.J. Harwood,
Hutchinson & Co., Lake Superior Knitting Works, Reedsburg Mills, and Turner &
Hutchinson; on Riverview Sanatorium, the United Boys' Brigade, and the State Historical
Society Board of Curators; on the Congregational Church and mission work; and on the
Lakeshore Camping Company, an early tourist agency. Also included are papers of F. Harwood
Orbison.
