Wisconsin Women during World War II Oral History Project Interviews, 1992-1994

Scope and Content Note

This collection is listed below in two series: INTERVIEWS and PHOTOGRAPHS. The Interviews series consists of 116 interviews. Most of the interviews are available in three formats: the original tape-recorded interviews, transcripts of the interviews, and an electronic copy of the transcripts. Three interviews, Mary Caire, Anne Dinsmore, and Louise Yaffe, are only available in transcript and electronic form, and not available online. A list of the questions asked during the interviews is included as an appendix to this finding aid.

Additional biographical information, such as birth date, ethnicity, religion, occupation, marital status, education, on each interviewee was compiled by project staff as part of the oral history project. This biographical information is available in the Contents list in the list of interviews.

Images in this collection were acquired during the project. Included are images of the interviewees during the war as well as at the time of the interviews. World War II images include factory workers in Milwaukee; women in the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League; women in army and navy uniforms; nurses and patients in military hospitals; and the families of women interviewed.
