: Additions, 1924-1998, of the State Medical Society of Wisconsin consisting of subject files, correspondence, brochures, and materials of C.H. Crownhart and J.G. Crownhart, brothers who both served on the Society's staff. The collection documents the Society's governance: member and staff efforts to influence legislative activity; efforts to inform people on public health issues; and changes in Wisconsin physicians' concerns, and practices over the years. It also contains extensive information on the early development of prepaid sickness insurance plans; the development and administration of Wisconsin Physicians Service insurance plans; medical malpractice issues - including the founding of the Wisconsin Health Care Liability Insurance Plan (WHCLIP); and the Society's relationship with Wisconsin osteopaths in the 1960s. The photographs document special events, members, and staff of the Society. The Society's medical museum is also documented. The scrapbooks document special events, including the Society's 125th Anniversary (1966) and the sound recordings are of speakers at the dedication of the presidents' room (1967).
