E.B. Quiner: Correspondence of the Wisconsin Volunteers, 1861-1863

Scope and Content Note

The Correspondence of the Wisconsin Volunteers, 1861-1865, are newspaper clippings concerning the activities of Wisconsin regiments during the Civil War, which Quiner collected and bound into 10 scrapbooks. Originally the correspondence was addressed to a particular newspaper or to family and friends from men on the fields of battle. Arranged by regiments, the scrapbooks provide insight into the spirit as well as the struggles of the combatants. Each of the 10 scrapbook volumes (except for volume 1) has a separate alphabetical index volume providing access in the appropriate scrapbook to the participants mentioned.
