Matson Holbrook Oral History Project Records, 1951-1952

Scope and Content Note

The Matson Holbrook Oral History Project records consist of interviews made by Holbrook, around 1951, with individuals in education and industry in Milwaukee (particularly in the tanning industry), in which they recall their work and many items of information concerning the city. These interviews usually exist both as typed transcripts, and as tape recordings.

Also on tape are notes read by Matson Holbrook, May 2, 1952, from a history of the Rueping Leather Company, Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, privately printed by the Rueping family, as well as excerpts (also read by Holbrook) from Milwaukee of Today, the Cream City of the Lake, a book printed around 1893 and containing information on the leather industry, particularly the Pfister & Vogel Leather Company.
