Part 1 (Mss 168, PH Mss 168): Original Collection, 1941-19520.8 c.f. (2 archives boxes) and 9 photographs The Luida and Lewis Sanders papers relate largely to the period of their Army service. Correspondence is both incoming and outgoing between Luida, Lewis, their mother, and other family and friends. Earlier correspondence (1943-1945) relates largely to Luida, and later correspondence (1945-1951) includes letters to and from Lewis. The letters provide a great deal of information both on the Sanders family and friends and on Army life in general, such as procedures, regulations, social life, and daily activities. The majority of the collection pertains to Luida's experiences and thoughts. Additional information on Luida's experiences in the Army can be found in the W.A.C. materials in Box 2. Included there are her army orders, duty notes, recruitment materials, the gossip sheets she authored, and her diary, “A Year with the W.A.C.'s, August 1943-August 1944.” There are also nine photographs depicting Lewis with his comrades in Kunsan, Korea.
