David Bradley Papers, 1940-1965

Scope and Content Note

The Bradley Papers consist of: (1) 1965 correspondence including exchanges between Bradley and Don Anderson, the editor of the Wisconsin State Journal, concerning Lion Among Roses and the donation of Bradley's papers to the SHSW (including a candid statement by Bradley about the origin, rationale, and evolution of the book); (2) material relating to Lion Among Roses, including working drafts of chapters one and seventeen, a typescript draft of the entire book, a galley proof with annotations, and a review article of the published work; (3) a semi-biographical essay written by David's father in 1928 for a Congregational Church Speaker's Series for new parents in which he described his and his wife's experiences in raising seven sons; and (4) a number of David's wartime dispatches.
