Cecil E. Burleigh Papers, 1906-1967

Scope and Content Note

The papers consist of correspondence and biographical material. The general correspondence is almost entirely incoming and contains letters from editors, agents, and admirers; much of it is related to Mr. Burleigh's career as a professional musician. Filed separately is a series of letters, 1950-1967, written by Mr. Burleigh to his sister, Clara. These letters contain numerous references to his music and music in general. The biographical materials contain a biographical sketch of Burleigh written by his sister at the time of his retirement; a detailed list of recitals, orchestral performances, and compositions; and reviews of Mr. Burleigh's work.
