This series has been processed in two parts. Files from 1860-1910 (Reels 1-1130) are arranged in ascending file number (which is generally equivalent to chronological order). The Genealogical Society of Utah filmed these records in 1977-1978 and holds the master negatives. Reels 1-32 are 16mm positives; reels 33-1130 are 35mm negatives.
Files from 1928-1930 are arranged in descending numerical (generally equivalent to reverse chronological order). These files were filmed for Milwaukee County by the Document Image Management Center, 1993, and have retained their designation as reel numbers 7880-8047. Reels are 16mm diazo duplicate negatives. The corresponding security negatives are housed at the State Historical Society in Madison. Original records for both portions are at the Milwaukee Register in Probate office.
