Ed Marciniak, "The Price of Labor/Management Peace" 1950
Scope and Content Note: In his lecture, Marciniak declares that "citizenship" is the price of peace between labor and management. He clarifies this by stating that the political concept of citizenship (i.e. where equals participate in their own democratic rule) should be extended to the economic sphere. In Marciniak's estimation, implementing economic citizenship would require removing the stigma around manual labor, limiting management's and organized labor's desire for more wealth, and both parties developing of a sense of responsibility towards the community. A question and answer period session follows the lecture. This recording was made during the Fall of 1950.

Scope and Content Note: Lawrence takes questions from the audience about the Liturgy of Holy Week. In doing so, he argues that the revelation of God is slowly and continually unfurling. He also speaks on the importance of the epistle gospels, the history of various rites, and the importance of the life of Christ.

Scope and Content Note: Halloran provides his interpretation of the liturgy of Holy Week. It is his opinion that the liturgy stands as proof of humanity's redemption through the martyrdom of Christ and acts as a reminder of the selflessness inherent to Christianity.

Scope and Content Note: Konarig argues that the shift towards secularism resulted from the importance of the material sciences to the Industrial Revolution. He also contends that the new shift towards biological sciences will necessitate a step back from mechanical understandings of the universe to a more holistic, and spiritual, understanding. The recording seems to begin part way through the lecture.

Scope and Content Note: Voorhis speaks about the thesis of his book, "The Christian in Politics," which was to encourage practicing Christians to participate more enthusiastically in politics, both as candidates and in the electorate. He argues that the threat of communism and nuclear war compels American Christians to stand up and organize to protect democracy. A question and answer session follows the speech.

Scope and Content Note: This a recording of a radio program on sex education given from a Christian perspective, and it seems to have been part of a larger section on family and marriage. Scope and Content Note: Brill speaks on the importance of assuming sincerity when speaking with people of differing denominations and faiths. Father Eugene Bleidorn, "The Challenge of the Church" 1958 March 1
Scope and Content Note: Bleidorn argues that the Church has consistently failed in attending to its responsibility to the poor. In his estimation, the resulting global inequality had contributed to the building revolutionary sentiment of the age and that this sentiment was being preyed upon communist movements. Unless a change was made, Bleidorn argues the Church will be increasing persecuted for its indifference to injustice. A question and answer session follows the lecture.

Dr. Pick, "Catholics and Modern Art" 1954 March 5
Scope and Content Note: Pick argues that Catholics, as a group, were unwisely unreceptive to the concepts of modern art. Buttressing his point, he states that the movement reaffirms artistic, as opposed to photographic, depictions of objects and people. This, he states, is a style not dissimilar to that promoted by the Church during the Middle Ages.

Reverend Vincent O'Connell, "The Family and the Labor Union" 1954 October 8
Scope and Content Note: O'Connell speaks on the relationship between the family unit and the labor union. He argues that the industrial revolution changed the dynamic of work in a way that divided labors and led to the alienation of individuals within families. This alienation contributed to an increase in abusive behavior by employers, which the labor unions were crafted to fight back against. He then points to labor campaigns for the eight hour day and against child labor as allowing for the redevelopment of familial cohesion. A question and answer period follows the lecture.

Father Lassance, "The Morality of Strikes" undated
Scope and Content Note: Lassance speaks on a Chirstian of ideal of industrial peace based on compromise, well-ordered labor relations, and good-faith collective bargaining. He argues that relations between labor and capital should not be structured around class distinctions but instead be governed by sound morality, economics, and politics. Recognizing that this ideal is not in practice today, Lassance also argues that there are cases where labor strikes can "clear the economic atmosphere" to allow both parties to come to a more just arrangement. Scope and Content Note: In this lecture, Horgan states that men and women are nearly identical psychologically and that most of the perceived differences are either superficial or culturally imposed. He argues that most individuals, be they man or woman, work to fulfill the roles culturally ascribed to them. This lecture involves a great deal of participation from the audience, as they often asked their opinions about the topics being discussed.

Janet Kalven, "Women's Role in the World Today" 1952 November 7
Scope and Content Note: Kalven begins by speaking of the modern world as being more united than ever through the technologies of transportation and communication. However, she also states that it is under crisis due to the contradictions of a secular society, which have worked to create an increasingly unfilled desire for meaning. According to Kalven, this desire was leading women back to Christianity in order to find instruction as to what role they should be playing in the world.

Scope and Content Note: While this tape is labeled as containing a lecture on "Family and Marriage," it actually pertains to the history of Catholic missionary work in China. A special emphasis is made on the need to separate Biblical teachings from Western cultural traditions when attempting to proselyting throughout the world.

Ed Marcinak, "Ousting Communism from Unions" 1955 April 24
Scope and Content Note: Marcinak speaks on the upcoming merger of the American Federation of Labor (AFL) and the Congress of Industrial Organizations (CIO) and, subsequently, the threat of Communist-dominated unions to use the AFL-CIO as a front from which to operate. In discussing obstacles to ousting Communists from the labor movement, Marcinak list issues such as people being mislabeled as Communists, the lack of public awareness about what communism actually is, and people's trouble with identifying Communists when they see them.
