Micro 471
Part 1 (Micro 471): Original Collection, 1937-1974
Physical Description: 11 reels of microfilm (35mm)
Scope and Content Note

The records of the Equity Cooperative Livestock Sales Association are organized into four series: Articles of Incorporation and By-Laws, Audit Reports, Minutes, and a Subject File of Local Shipping Cooperatives.

Although Equity was founded in 1922, its Articles of Incorporation and By-Laws were revised in 1965; only these are included in the collection.

The annual Audit Reports, 1947-1970, 1972-1974, present a detailed analysis of the financial status of the overall Association and of its regional auction markets.

Three volumes of Minutes, 1944-1966, document Equity's regular Board of Directors' meetings, special Board meetings, and general annual meetings.

The largest series in the collection is the Subject File of Local Shipping Cooperatives. It consists of files of many of the local cooperatives which operate through the eight regional auction markets. These forty-one files form a representative sampling of the cooperatives associated with Equity.

All of the regional auction markets are represented except the Bonduel Market. The files consist mainly of financial records such as federal income tax returns, annual financial and operating statements, worksheets, and related correspondence. For several of the cooperatives, there are also articles of incorporation and by-laws.

Arrangement of the Materials: The files are arranged alphabetically by regional auction market and alphabetically thereunder by local cooperative name.
