William B. Hazeltine Papers, 1843-1940

Biography/History

William B. Hazeltine, preacher and presiding elder in the Methodist Episcopal Church, was born at Middletown, Vermont, May 22, 1816, and died at Mazomanie, Wisconsin, in 1888. He married Sarah Woodruff in 1835, and received his license as a local preacher on May 5, 1841.

Rev. Hazeltine was ordained in 1849, and in 1855 moved to Wisconsin. Subsequently, he served his church as minister and presiding elder in about thirteen cities and villages within the jurisdiction of the West Wisconsin Conference of the Methodist Church.
