George W. Armentrout Papers, 1832-1922

Biography/History

The Armentrout family lived near the McCormick farm in Virginia and George Armentrout seems to have farmed too. He also ran a sawmill for a time, had a partnership in a small business with Jacob A. Hanger, and had some investments in land, lumber, and mining. In later years he practiced law. His home after about 1900 was “Stuarts Draft,” Augusta County, Virginia.
