Container Title
M97-070
Part 2 (M97-070): Additions, circa 1890s, 1947-1992
Physical Description: 7.4 cubic feet of photographs (6 records center cartons, 1 flat box, and 1 archives box), 7 posters (1 oversize folder), 8 film reels, and 21 videotapes (2 records center cartons)
Scope and Content Note

Images in this accession date from the late 19th century to about 1984 and consist mainly of black and white prints and color slides, although there are also a few color prints and some negatives, including a single glass plate (Box 6). In addition to contemporary photographs of the Telemark Ski Area, the American Birkebeiner and other cross-country ski events, Historyland (particularly as it concerns Native American culture), and the Lumberjack World Championships, there are also historical photographs of Hayward, Wisconsin and other northern Wisconsin locations, of logging operations in the Winter, Wisconsin area, and of Ojibwa Indians, particularly members of the Lac Courte Oreilles band. There are also a few personal/family photographs. The series of photographs in Box 7 documents the process of building a birch bark canoe as demonstrated at Historyland in 1959. Box 7 also contains copy negatives of photos from a large oversized scrapbook which has been microfilmed (Micro 2051).

The photographs are very roughly organized. The list below describes the topics to be found in each box, but note that a single topic may be found in more than one box. A listing of the films and videotapes follows the photographs.

Use Restrictions: WHS may not own copyright to photographs bearing the photographer's stamp, nor to commerically produced film footage or videotape, such as the tapes of ABC Network broadcasts.
