Scope and Content Note

This is a subject file of correspondence, memoranda, circulars, bulletins, speeches, meeting and convention reports, cost of living studies, wage and production studies, pamphlets, news releases, news clippings and statistical data.

Although much of the data was developed internally, part of it was collected from such sources as the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the National Association of Hosiery manufacturers, the National War Labor Board, the AFL-CIO Research Department, other unions, trade publications, newspapers, and magazines.

Correspondence of the union's officers and staff, and other material in this file relates to almost any subject useful in editing the union's newspaper, preparing speeches and news releases, information prepared for use in Congressional committee hearings or before agencies of the federal government, group insurance contracts, negotiation of labor agreements, and arbitration cases.

Arrangement of the Materials: Alphabetical by subject and chronological thereunder.
