Scope and Content Note: The collection includes general correspondence; transcripts of hearings and remarks; news clippings; scripts of his radio broadcasts and of a similar but short-lived television program; listener mail; files concerning teaching and lectures; speeches; biographical material, including several autobiographical writings and the transcript of a 1970 interview conducted by Stephen P. Dunn; brief writings such as articles and letters to the editor; a copy of the book Soviet But Not Russian; letters by and about his son, Robert, concerning his work with the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC), 1963-1964; a file about the execution of the Martinsville Seven; and tape recordings of speeches, lectures, debates, his testimony before Joe McCarthy, and interviews.
