Abstract:

Papers of David Bordwell and Kristin Thompson, scholars known for their work in the history and analysis of film style, narrative, and industries. Included are correspondence and extensive files on research, teaching, and professional conferences. Research projects spanning books, articles and blogs are documented by correspondence, research materials, film analysis notes, drafts and printouts. Best coverage is afforded Kristin Thompson's The Frodo Franchise, Breaking the Glass Armor, and Storytelling in the New Hollywood; David Bordwell's Planet Hong Kong; and Bordwell, Thompson, and Janet Staiger's The Classical Hollywood Cinema. Notes and brochures from conferences and invited lectures are also extensively represented, as are lecture outlines and notes from various courses taught by Bordwell. Also includes recordings of research interviews, LaserDisc collection, and photographs.
