Robert F. Froehlke Papers, 1968-1974

Scope and Content Note

The papers include official and personal correspondence, speeches, travel itineraries and records, and personal records, plus a few items about Sentry Insurance. Correspondence details administrative tasks, but also includes numerous reflections on contemporary issues including the youth movement, the Vietnam War, and the Nixon administration. Records also include correspondence concerning Froehlke’s decision in 1974 to speak out in favor of amnesty for draft evaders and his testimony before Congress. These files consist of incoming opinion letters both for and against Froehlke’s position, occasionally with copies of his response letters attached.
