The original collection consists of correspondence, organizational materials, minutes, court files, training manuals, conference materials, materials from related organizations, papers and reports, project files, and news clippings.

The correspondence concerns state and legal issues along with letters from related organizations. The organizational materials contain the articles of incorporation, membership lists and the bylaws of WCADV; the minutes are from board, coalition and committee meetings. The Court Files contain mostly interviews conducted by WCADV staff of incarcerated women who had been battered by the persons they murdered and include transcripts of the sentencing hearings of these women. The training manuals, produced by WCADV and other related organizations, were intended for use by law enforcement personnel and volunteers to promote a greater sensitivity to domestic abuse situations. The conference materials include documentation on both statewide and national conferences. The materials from related organizations and the papers and reports all deal with various aspects and forms of domestic abuse. Finally, the project files and news clippings further document the various activities in which the WCADV was involved.
