Lyle Lahey Cartoons, 1968-1996, 2003, 2005-2011

Biography/History

Lyle Lahey was born August 23, 1931 in Abrams, Wisconsin. His parents were William and Alice (née Knewapple) Lahey. He served in Korea in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956, received his degree in Journalism from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and worked as promotion manager at WBAY-TV in Green Bay for 13 years.

In 1968, Lahey became a regular contributor of political cartoons to the Brown County Chronicle, a weekly paper published by Brown County Publishing of Denmark, Wisconsin. For the paper's successor, the daily Green Bay News-Chronicle, he served as editor of the commentary pages from 1976-1996 in addition to contributing editorial cartoons. After 1996, his cartoons continued to be a feature on the opinion page until 2005, when the paper ceased publication. Until his death at age 81 on February 8, 2013, Lahey continued publishing his cartoons on his website.

A collection of Lahey's cartoons about the Green Bay Packers was published by the Green Bay News-Chronicle in 1997. The book is entitled The Packer Chronicles: Waiting for the Pack to Come Back…
