Wisconsin. Circuit Court (Florence County): Naturalization Records, 1882-1947

Scope and Content Note

The Florence County Naturalization Records consist of Declarations of Intention (1882-1945), Petitions (1882-1947), and indexes to Declarations and Petitions. Included in the last volume of Petitions are Orders Granting and Denying Petitions (1929-1947).

Compared to the naturalization records found in most counties, the Florence County Naturalizations are very easy to use. There are two card indexes, one to declarations of intention, 1882-1945, and one to petitions, 1882-1947. These indexes are arranged alphabetically and give the volume and page where the particular document can be found.

In addition, each volume is indexed at its beginning. These indexes are grouped by first letter of surname and chronologically therein. They give the page number for those volumes with Declarations and Petitions prior to 1907 and the Declaration or Petition number for the volumes covering 1907-1947. These indexes generally need not be consulted since the card indexes appear to be complete. The volume numbers shown in the contents list which follows are those originally assigned and cited in the indexes.
