Eighty-two episodes from the musical series Mahalia Jackson Sings, which was produced by TEC. The series featured gospel singer Jackson performing a variety of gospel songs on sparsely decorated stages. Occasionally, her musicians appear on stage with her. Her band included organists Louise Weaver and Edward C. Robinson, drummer Shelly Manne, guitarist Barney Kessel, and bassist Red Mitchell.
This collection includes 82 episodes of Mahalia Jackson Sings. All the reels in this collection are black and white, 16 mm prints with sound, and run approximately 3 minutes. The visual quality of these prints is very good overall, with minor image and sound deterioration.
