Scope and Content Note

Records, 1990-2001, of Jeffrey Knight, director of the state Division of State Agency Services' Bureau of Transportation, concerning his participation in the Alternative Fuels Task Force (AFTF), a state government group; the Wisconsin Clean Cities-Southeast Area (WCC-SEA), a private organization of which the AFTF was a member, that was concerned with air quality in southeastern Wisconsin; and the Governors' Ethanol Coalition, a national organization for which Knight often served as the representative of Wisconsin Governor Tommy G. Thompson. The Alternative Fuel Task Force files consist of correspondence, minutes, and grant files about efforts to test the utility of ethanol as an automobile fuel. Several files concern related work at the Wisconsin Alternative Fuels Emission Testing Laboratory at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. The Wisconsin Clean Cities-Southeast Area files document meetings, reports, and the grant funding that supported the WCC-SEA outreach and education programs. The files on the Governors' Ethanol Coalition consist of minutes and agenda materials.
