Mark Porter is an LGBTQ+ advocate and activist in the Madison, Wisconsin area. He worked
specifically to increase the number of Dane County employers offering health insurance to
domestic partners. Porter worked as an information systems specialist at CUNA Mutual, and in
2001, after seven years of his efforts, CUNA Mutual Group agreed to cover his life partner
Mark Packard. CUNA Mutual became the largest private Dane County employer to offer insurance
for domestic partner insurance. Beyond this, Porter was an active member and participant in
Magic Weekends, Madison Pridefests, and GALVAnize.
