The Cooperative Bibliography was produced under the authority of the Works Progress
Administration of the U.S. Government during the years 1937-1942, by some 90 professional
workers, including 14 translators. It consists of 24,000 items, indexed in card files,
alphabetically by author, within country, and cross-indexed by subject. Each item is also
abstracted in the files that appear in the first 40 boxes of the collection.
