National College Learning Center Association Records, 1985-2012

Biography/History

The National College Learning Center Association was formed in 1985 in Wisconsin as the Midwest College Learning Association. From its Midwestern roots, the Association has grown to include 200 members, with learning centers and learning center personnel from across the United States. The name of the Association was formally changed in 1999 to the National College Learning Center Association.

Presidents of the Association serve a one-year term, and there are a number of standing committees. The Association holds an annual conference in October of every year, and publishes both an internal newsletter and The Learning Assistance Review, a scholarly journal that comes out twice a year. Though the Association was formed in 1985, the bulk of the collection’s materials date from the 1990s.
