Series: 1. Correspondence, 1927-2009
: This series is comprised largely of incoming correspondence, with the bulk of
the material dating from 1967, when Liddy moved to the United States, to
2008. It shows his relationships with family and friends, other poets and
writers, and former students who became friends, as well as some of the
business side of Liddy's work. Liddy used some of the early third-party and
family letters for his memoirs. The folders labeled "Unopened and Unsent
Letters" contain letters that were either received by Liddy but never opened
or written by Liddy and never sent. Sealed envelopes were opened by the
archivist during processing. The correspondence is organized by surname,
then chronologically. A brief note about the sender or recipient is
provided.
