The collection consists of an estimated 5,000 drawings covering local, state, and national
topics. Topics include race relations, military conflicts, popular culture and political
scandals. Also included is original artwork featuring "Beanie the Brownie," the Christmas
holiday character that Carlson adapted from the popular 1940s advertising campaign of
Schuster's department store.
