David Randall Luce Papers, 1945-2005

Scope and Content Note

The bulk of the collection consists of materials documenting Luce's political, professional, and teaching activities. The collection contains materials pertaining to Luce's political activities at UWM and with the ACLU, WCLU, Democratic Party, and Wisconsin Interchange, as well as files that the FBI and Michigan State Police kept on him for his political activism which Luce acquired under the Freedom of Information Act. Professional activity files largely consist of publications and drafts of Luce's writings, and fellowship and grant applications. Teaching materials largely consist of course syllabi and lecture notes. Also included are some materials from the UWM Dept. of Philosophy and materials from Luce's undergraduate and graduate school years.
