Lorraine M. Radtke was born on November 21, 1922. She received a bachelor's degree in
journalism from Marquette University in 1944 and a master's degree from the University of
Minnesota in 1946. Over the years, Radtke held numerous positions. She worked as an editor
for the Milwaukee Sentinel and the Badger Lutheran. Radtke taught journalism at Marquette
University and Wesleyan University. She became a publicist and worked for the Milwaukee
County Park Commission's Music Under the Stars and the Wisconsin Gas Company. Radtke also
worked for the Wisconsin Heart Association and the Home for Aged Lutherans as the director
of public relations. Elected to the Milwaukee School Board in 1955, Radtke served as the
president from 1963 to 1965; she retired in 1981. Lorraine Radtke died on December 12,
1987.
