Access Restrictions

Electronic records must be accessed in the Archives reading room, and researchers must use access copies. See an archivist for more information.

For the Univeristy of Wisconsin Milwaukee Report, the preservation copies are restricted. Patrons may use the access copies only.

There are no access restrictions on the materials, and the collection is open to all members of the public in accordance with state law.

Use Restrictions

The researcher assumes full responsibility for conforming with the laws of libel, privacy, and copyright which may be involved in the use of this collection (Wisconsin Statutes 19.21-19.39).

Acquisition Information

The collection was transferred to the Archives prior to 1989. University Communications & Media Relations transferred an addition to the collection in September 2007 (accession 2007-020). Additional materials were transferred to the Archives in 2007 and 2008. University Communications transferred accession 2009-039 to the Archives in December 2009. University Communications and Media Relations donated additional materials (accessions 2009-030 and 2009-032) in December 2009. University Communications donated accession 2014-026 in October 2014 and accession 2015-029 in February 2016. John B. Gray donated 10 videocassettes in November 2020.

Processing Information

Rhonda Huber processed the collection at the Archives in January through March 1996. Brad Houston processed accession 2007-050 in October 2007, and materials from various accessions of UWM in the News materials in November 2009. Accession 2009-039 was processed by Matt Sherman in August 2010 (Brad Houston supervised). Charles Welborn processed additional material in August 2012.

In November 2009, the name of the collection was changed from University News Services and Publications to University Communications & Media Relations to reflect the office's most recent official name. Molly Whiteside (supervised by Christel Maass) processed additional materials from accessions 2009-030, 2009-032, and 2014-026 (boxes 25-39). Shiraz Bhathena processed the e-records and accessions 2020-034 and 2021-017. Lauran Slagle processed and integrated accession 2020-009 into collection in June 2022. Shiraz Bhathena added materials that existed in the reading room colletion in December 2023.
