Access Restrictions

Except for boxes 27 and 32, there are no access restrictions on the materials, and the collection is open to all members of the public in accordance with state law.

The files in box 27 are restricted in accordance with FERPA. Files in Box 32 are restricted in accordance with the UWM Personnel File policy (S-40), Section III.A.3.

Use Restrictions

The researcher assumes full responsibility for conforming with the laws of libel, privacy, and copyright which may be involved in the use of this collection (Wisconsin Statutes 19.21-19.39).

Acquisition Information

An unknown individual transferred the initial collection to the Archives prior to 1989. Additional accessions were transferred by Norman Lasca in 1995 (1995-030), by Paul Scobey in 1998 (1998-029), by unknown administrators in 2000 (2000-013), and by Barbara Wells in 2002 (2002-038). Additional material was transferred by Ed Beimborn as part of the files of the Center for Urban Transportation Studies in 2008 (2007-054). Additional material was donated in April 2011 (accession 2010-044). Stephen Percy donated accession 2010-064 in June 2011. Additional material was separated from the Winston Van Horne Papers (accession 2012-038) in May 2015. Laura Stark donated additional materials in August 2012 (2012-011) and June 2013 (2012-057). Laura Stark transferred additional Advisors and Counselors Network records to the Archives in June 2016 (accession 2015-052). Janet Mittelstadt transferred Association of Women in Education records to the Archives in April 2018 (accession 2017-034).

Processing Information

Kristine Shrauger, Ellen Engseth, Leslie Heinrichs, and Nick Weber processed the collection at the Archives in the summer and fall of 1995. Jessica Sawinski processed additional accessions (1998-029 and part of 2000-013) in November and December 2006. Jeremy Brett added two accessions (1995-030 and 2002-038) in February 2007. Will Dodds processed the remainder of accession 2000-013 in January 2008, under the supervision of Brad Houston. Brad Houston added the material separated from accession 2007-054 in November 2008. Charles Welborn processed additional material in July 2012. Hayley Jackson updated the finding aid to include information about accessions 2010-044 and 2010-064 in October 2013. Brad Houston added some additional material in November 2014. Christel Maass added additonal materials to the collection in January 2015. Brad Houston and Zac Baldauf processed materials from accession 2012-038 in Spring 2015. Molly Whiteside (Christel Maass supervised) processed accessions 2010-044 and 2010-064 in June 2015 (boxes 40-42). Ashlie Biddle (supervised by Brad Houston and Christel Maass) added accession 2012-011 and 2012-057 (boxes 43-44) to the collection in December 2015. Christel Maass added the paper records from accession 2015-052 to the collection in July 2016. Brad Houston added the electronic records from accession 2015-052 in July 2016. Phyllis Reske processed some additional materials in July 2016 (Brad Houston supervised). Ashlie Biddle added two folders to Box 3 in April 2017. Christel Maass added some additional materials which were removed from a Library Director accession (2006-070) in November 2017. Christel Maass processed accession 2017-034 (box 46) in April 2018. Christel Maass added some additional materials from accession 2001-052 in August 2018 and from accession 2017-042 in September 2018.
