Miscellaneous records, consisting mainly of correspondence,
faculty meeting minutes, curriculum guidelines, recordings and programs from various
performances given by Music Department faculty and students. Administrative correspondence
is largely between the department chair and the dean of the School of Fine Arts regarding
curriculum planning, budgeting and departmental activities. Other correspondence regards
planning of music performance series such as Summer Evenings of Music, the Fine Arts
Quartet, Christmas Festivals of Courtly Music, and Music-From-Almost-Yesterday. The faculty
meeting minutes document curriculum changes, scholarship and fellowship awards, faculty
appointments and the development and changes of the graduate program of the department. The
files also contain information on guest artists who performed at UWM, including the New York
Woodwind Quintet, the Dave Brubeck Jazz Quartet, and the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra.
Recordings are mostly of the UW-Milwaukee Symphony Band and Symphony Orchestra from the
1960s-1980s.
